The space was founded in 2022 by the founders of the New Art Studies Foundation, art historians Ekaterina Dubrovskaya and Kristina Sasonko. The name of the cultural center refers to the former in its place in the Soviet years, the Beryozka currency store, which worked at the Sovetskaya Hotel.
The mission of Beriozka is to expand the audience's understanding of Soviet and contemporary art and introduce them to authors and works that are not yet well known to the public.
