Therapeutic mud is a greasy silt that accumulates at the bottom of salt lakes and estuaries and consists of a mineral base (earth, sand, clay), which is overgrown and stuck together with gelatinous organic substances.
The formation of dirt occurs as a result of the fact that living organisms undergo decomposition without access to oxygen. Proteins contain sulfur, which is not able to completely oxidize, and is released in the form of hydrogen sulfide.
