Echocardiography — an ultrasound diagnostic method aimed at studying the morphological and functional changes of the heart and its valve apparatus. It is based on capturing ultrasound signals reflected from the structures of the heart. It is one of the main research methods used in modern cardiology. Makes it possible to evaluate the valve apparatus, cardiac muscle (myocardium) with determination of zones of hypertrophy and hypokinesia, pumping function of the heart (ejection fraction).

The method allows:

  • diagnose congenital heart defects;
  • diagnose acquired (rheumatic) heart defects;
  • diagnose coronary heart disease;
  • identify cardiac hypertrophy in hypertension;
  • diagnose dysfunction of the valve apparatus;
  • diagnose dilation of the heart chambers;
  • diagnose intracardiac blood clots and aneurysms.

Indications:

  • people with complaints of shortness of breath;
  • dizziness;
  • weakness;
  • cases of loss of consciousness;
  • a feeling of rapid heartbeat or “interruptions” in the work of the heart, pain in the heart area;
  • heart murmur.

Preparation for the study:

  • the study does not require special preparation of the patient
