The Kazan Monastery is the hallmark of the city, located within walking distance from AZIMUT Hotel Tambov.

According to legend, it was here, in the church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, that St. Seraphim of Sarov was ordained a hieromonk in 1793.

The John the Baptist Church has survived a fire, a Civil War, and was abandoned since 1794 (the year of its foundation). And now it is a favorite parish for many Tambov residents and guests of the city. During the restoration, the church of John the Baptist was plastered and painted in a red martyr's color.

The bell tower of the Kazan Monastery of the Virgin Mary is the second tallest in Russia and the tallest in the Central Federal District.

The church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God is decorated in blue tones. This is the only Orthodox church in the world, painted in a rare grisaille technique.
