Meshchersky Nature Park, which covers nearly 500 hectares, is located in the Odintsovo urban district and partially in Moscow. These areas are named after Prince Sergei Meshchersky, the marshal of the nobility of the Volokolamsk district.
A Connection with Times and Harmony with Nature
In the 13th century, the land belonged to the Grand Duke of Novgorod, Alexander Nevsky. In the 16th century, these forests hosted falconry for Tsar Ivan the Terrible. From the 17th to the 18th centuries, the lands were owned by members of the Lithuanian-Russian boyar family, the Trubetskoys. And in the 1930s, the well-known writers' village of Peredelkino was built next to the forest. Writers and their admirers flocked here.
Everything for an eco-friendly and comfortable leisure
During the Soviet era, these areas were uninhabited. Park improvements began in the 2000s. In the fall of 2011, it was completely cleared of windfall and deadwood, and construction of eco-infrastructure began. At the same time, the area officially received its current name.
Now the park is fenced and accessible from various directions: two entrances are open to the north, three to the west, and three to the south. Sports enthusiasts can play on the soccer field or volleyball court. Bicycles are available for rent in the summer, and skis are available in the winter.
