Voronezh is located more than 600 km from the sea, but this did not prevent it from becoming the birthplace of the Russian Navy. On November 19 (29), 1698, by order of Peter the Great, the first Russian sailing ship of the line, named "Goto Predestinatsia" (God's Providence), was laid down at the Voronezh shipyard. The Emperor himself developed the design and personally oversaw the construction, with renowned shipwrights Fedosey Sklyaev and Lukyan Vereshchagin also participating.

The Voronezh Museum Ship "Goto Predestinatsia" is a model of the legendary sailing ship, recreated in 2014 based on original drawings from the Peter the Great era. The exhibition includes ship models, maps, weapons, personal belongings of sailors, and other artifacts of that time.

If you're interested in the history of the Russian Navy, be sure to visit the "Peter the Great's Ships" museum. This small, themed museum recreates the atmosphere of the early days of the Russian Navy in Voronezh, with a portion of the exhibition dedicated to the subsequent stages of the development of shipbuilding in Russia.

The museum makes extensive use of modern multimedia technologies to vividly present historical material. For example, video mapping technology allows for the animation of static objects: visitors can watch the storming of the Azov Fortress directly on a model or follow the progress of the Gangut Naval Battle.

We also recommend visiting other interesting places located within walking distance of the AZIMUT City Hotel Voronezh: Central Market, Opera and Ballet Theater, and Puppet Theater "Jester".
