The V.A. Volkhovsky State Puppet Theater is an iconic landmark of Voronezh. From the outside, the theater building looks like a delightful fairytale castle, except that it's inhabited not by people, but by dolls.

This magnificent structure is a relatively new addition to the city – it was designed and built in 1984. Architects Nikolai Topoev and Valentin, as well as sculptors Ivan Dikunov and Elza Pak, were awarded the State Prize for their work.

The main entrance boasts an impressive rotunda with seven columns, each adorned with figurines of popular fairytale characters such as Cinderella, the Swan Princess, and the Princess and the Pea. In the courtyard, characters from Pushkin's fairy tales come to life, and this magical place is guarded by White Bim Black Ear, a charming sculpture beloved by all Voronezh residents.

The majestic three-story castle is immersed in flowers. The top floor houses a winter garden with miniature trees and a ceiling entwined with vines. The theater museum, opened in 2001, houses puppets from retired productions. The museum's collection comprises over 4,000 exhibits.

The theater is actively developing, producing several new productions annually. Its repertoire currently includes 48 performances for audiences of all ages. The troupe participates in international puppet theater festivals and receives prestigious awards and prizes from various theater competitions.

We also recommend visiting other interesting places located within walking distance from AZIMUT City Hotel Voronezh: Opera and Ballet Theater, the Museum ship "Goto Predestination" and Central Market.
