Sakhalin's climate with long snowy winters is ideal for the development of skiing. There is information that during the Japanese rule (1905-1945) there was also a ski resort in this place where ski jumping competitions were held. Today, Gorny Vozdukh is the largest year-round sports and tourism complex in the Far East, actively developing.
The resort's undoubted advantage is its location directly within the city limits of the Sakhalin capital. 22 trails with a total length of 41 km are laid on the slopes of two mountains - Bolshevik (601 m) and Krasnaya (779 m). From the peaks, there is a magnificent view of the surrounding area - the city, Aniva Bay, Susunai Lowland.
The ski area is equipped with 2 gondola-chair lifts, 3 chairlifts, 1 T-bar lift. At the top of Bolshevik Mountain there is a restaurant where you can taste authentic dishes of local cuisine, there are also food outlets at all stations of the resort.
The ski season in Sakhalin lasts on average 4 months, from mid-December to mid-April. An artificial snowmaking system operates on 9 trails of the sports complex, which allows you to start and finish the ski season earlier and later. For lovers of evening skiing, 5 trails with high-quality artificial lighting are equipped.

"Gorny Vozdukh" is an ideal choice for beginners and experienced athletes. The resort has trails of all difficulty levels: green, blue, red and black. Beginners are taught the basics of skiing or snowboarding by experienced instructors. Those who are just discovering the world of skiing and have not yet acquired their own equipment can use the rental services - there are 6 equipment rental points for them. If you come with your own equipment, the ideal option for accommodation is AZIMUT Apart Hotel Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk: there is a place to put a board, skis and other large equipment, dry clothes, warm up with a cup of tea and relax before going on the slope.
At the end of the ski season, walking routes are available on the territory of the sports complex. Eco-trails with a length of 2.7 to 9 km are designed for tourists with varying degrees of physical fitness - from a family walk with children to sports trekking. Also, "Gorny Vozdukh" offers free sports classes for everyone: yoga, general physical training, mountain biking training from the "Sakhalin Extreme Cycling Club".
